America's Most Wanted profile: Chioma Gray

LONG overdue, but America's Most Wanted finally released a profile for Chioma Gray and her abductor, Andrew Tafoya. I said "long" because hundreds of bloggers already reported on Chioma weeks before the local news came in the picture. Of course, one of the reasons why was the mistakes surrounding her case. But even so, the length of time it took for the news to get the information out was enough time for Chioma's abductor to get away with kidnapping and possibly harming her.

I will give AMW their props for taking on the case though. Hopefully after this, people will start keeping their eyes out for Chioma. I know her mother is anxious to have her home.

Below is an overview of Chioma's case on her AMW's profile:

For over two months, authorities in Calif. have been on the lookout for a missing Ventura, Calif. high school student, Chioma Gray. At midnight on Dec. 13, 2007, cops say Chioma's boyfriend, Andrew Tafoya, was released from his work furlough program and then stole a white 2008 Acura TSX. According to police, phone records show that Tafoya and Chioma were in contact up until the time that Chioma was dropped off at school. From there, authorities believe that Tafoya picked Chioma up at her high school and drove to the U.S.-Mexico border where the Acura's plates were recorded as entering the country. Neither Chioma or Tafoya have been seen or heard from since.

Chioma is 5'4", 115 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes. Andrew Tafoya, 20, is described as a Hispanic male, black hair, brown eyes, 6'0", and 195 lbs. He has multiple tattoos. Cops tell AMW that Tafoya had previously been arrested on charges for unlawful sex with a minor.

Police say that the pair may still be in Mexico or may be back in the U.S. traveling in states along the U.S.-Mexico border. Tafoya is currently wanted on charges of child stealing and kidnapping over jurisdictional boundaries.
